Gephi is a multi-platform free and open source interactive visualization and exploration platform for all kinds of networks and complex systems, dynamic and hierarchical graphs. A very simple example of the application can be found on thepoliticsofsystems.net where Bernhard Rieder, an assistant professor at the hypermedia department at Paris 8 University constructed a graph using Gephi & Facebook app netvizz. Koen Vervloesem on LWN.net informs about such similar open source projects Code_swarm & Gource and covers briefly about these open source visualization software.
The project has been selected again for Google Summer of Code 2010. You can follow Gephi on twitter and join their group on facebook
